Dear Parent or Guardian of our Scholars,

On August 21, 2017, Muskogee will be in the path of the partial solar eclipse. This event is being called “The Great American Solar Eclipse,” because it is the first time since 1918 that a solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the entire continental United States.

We are excited as a school district to be able to participate in this memorable teaching experience with our students. Specifically, we are planning to have our students engage in a variety of learning activities that includes watching the eclipse live stream through NASA. We want this experience to be enjoyable and look forward to discussing it with our students while in class.

All students will be cautioned to avoid looking at the eclipse during passing time while outside and will be kept in the gym during lunch if applicable. We will also be speaking with students to help them understand the precautions that must be taken to ensure their safety and avoid any eye damage. Please take the time to speak with your child to reinforce our message and your support for their safety.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to me  at 918-684-3830. Thank you for your continued support!!
